Suzanne Sommers

Suzanne Somers Suzanne Somers' return to network television as Carol Foster on "Step By Step" earned her a 1992 People's Choice Award for Favorite Actress in a New Series. She rose to stardom in the '70s with her portrayal of Chrissy Snow on the top-rated comedy "Three's Company." After leaving the series, she went on to become an accomplished nightclub performer, a best-selling author, and lecturer on behalf of children of alcoholics. In addition to "Three's Company," Somers' television credits include the telefilm "Keeping Secrets," the syndicated series "She's the Sheriff," the mini-series "Hollywood Wives," the cult telefilm "Zuma Beach," and the specials "A Star-Spangled Celebration," "The Suzanne Somers Show" and "Suzanne Somers and 10,000 GI's." She also hosted "The Late Show" on FOX in 1987, ABC's "Into the Night" in 1991 and her own daytime talk show, "The Suzanne Somers Show." Somers recently completed filming "Devil's Food," a made-for-television-movie for Lifetime. Her film credits include "American Graffiti" (she was the unforgettable blond in the white T-bird), "Happily Ever After," "Nothing Personal," "Sky Hei$t," "Yesterday's Hero" and "Serial Mom." In 1981, Somers headlined her own nightclub act at the Las Vegas Hilton, showcasing her singing and dancing talents. She continues to entertain regularly at Ceasar's Place in Las Vegas as well as venues in Lake Tahoe and Laughlin, Nevada. She was named "Las Vegas Entertainer of the Year" in 1986. Somers is also the author of "Touch Me," a volume of poems now in its third printing; the best-selling autobiography, "Keeping Secrets," which details her life growing up with an alcoholic father; and most recently, "Wednesday's Children: Adult Survivors of Abuse Speak Out," in which a wide range of celebrities reveal their personal stories of abuse and subsequent triumphs over adversity. Aside from acting and writing, Somers also devotes her energy to the Suzanne Somers Institute for the Effects of Addictions on the Family, for which she is founder and director. In conjunction with this, she has lectured extensively throughout the country, and in 1991, she testified before a U.S. Senate Committee on the subject. Somers has been chairperson for the National Association for the Children of Alcoholics and has received numerous awards including a Humanitarian Award from the National Council on Alcoholism, Mother of the Year Award, and the President's Award from the National Association of American Drug Counselors. Somers is married to her manager, Alan Hamel, with whom she oversees a plethora of ancillary businesses that manufacture the "Thigh Master," "Butt Master" and an apparel line. Somers has also released a health-and-fitness video package containing "Eat Great, Lose Weight" and "Think Great, Look Great."
